RHIGOS CHAPEL HOUSE

WALES

  • Rhigos Chapel House is located on a quiet village lane that overlooks the historic Rhigos Mountain range on the outskirts of the infamous Brecon Beacons National Park.

There a bus stops directly outside the property taking you to the nearby towns of Aberdare, Pontypridd and historic Merthyr Tydfil all of which have local markets, independent shops, restaurants, pubs and bars. Cardiff central train station is 55 minutes, as are the beaches of the Gower Peninsula.

  • A fully-renovated Welsh Chapel built in 1859, to seat 350.

The vestry at the rear was formerly a “British School” and the original village school from 1871-1890 and where the well-known Llwydcoed Brass Band held practice sessions.

The first minister was Rev. Abraham Matthews of Bala College, who lead the first settlers to Patagonia on 1865 on board the ship Mimosa.

Key features include 3-metre high ceilings, Original Chapel-style large picture windows that overlook the mountains and a large reception entrance area.

The house has been converted in an “upside down” configuration, with the main open plan living areas upstairs to take full advantage of the spectacular views, with bedrooms downstairs.

The vestry area is now a self-contained annexe, with a connecting staircase and door. Sunsets are particularly outstanding.

  • A beautiful and modern 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom converted Chapel.

On the ground floor is a large reception hall, featuring a grand piano.

Off the hall lies the master bedroom suite and 3 further bedrooms, a large bathroom featuring separate bath and shower, a walk-in cloakroom and a large utility room.

Climbing the tall sweeping staircase to the first floor you’ll access the spectacularly large open plan living/dining/kitchen space, featuring breathtaking views of field with sheep and horses and the mountains, a cosy snug with log-burner stove and a library with floor to ceiling book shelves.

To the rear of the house lies a “granny annexe” which has a kitchen, lounge with bi-fold doors to the courtyard garden and a king-size en-suite loft bedroom, with walk-in wardrobe.
