FAQs

  • Certain factors can indeed make your location more attractive to potential bookings. Primarily, this depends on its convenience—ideally, being within or close to the M25—and its versatility. A space that can adapt to various concepts or serves as a blank canvas often has broader appeal compared to more specialised or niche locations.

Although, every location has the potential to serve as a captivating backdrop for film and photography, whether it’s a weathered barn, a lavish Mayfair mansion, or a charming barbershop in Devon. Each setting brings its own unique narrative, and every story needs its perfect location.

  • Professional photography significantly enhances your location's appeal to location managers, scouts, and production companies. To create a compelling listing on our website, we require a minimum of 35 high-quality images that showcase all aspects of your space. We also encourage you to provide any drone footage, strong videography, and/or behind-the-scenes content to further enrich your listing.

If needed, we can recommend flexible photographers who offer affordable rates to capture your location at its best.

  • The compensation for each shoot can vary based on specific production requirements. Generally, our location owners can anticipate a minimum net payment of £1,000 for the most basic, one-day shoot. However, this amount usually exceeds this minimum, and we will always strive to negotiate the most favourable rate according to the demands of each production.

You may also set your own rate, which will be discussed during initial enquiry consultations.

  • The standard commission rate for film location agencies or brokers within the UK is 20% - anything more than this should be questioned.

At Silverstein Locations, we earn a 20% commission on every booking.

  • While your location may be the star of the show, it’s you, the owner, who truly makes it possible. Even the perfect setting can’t succeed without a responsive, available, and reliable location owner. Productions need to trust that they can depend on you to provide access and be flexible to their needs within reason.

Additionally, it's crucial for location owners to trust their broker or agency and be welcoming with their space. Productions take extensive measures to protect your property, including comprehensive insurance. However, some wear and tear may occur. If this potential risk is too much of a concern, film location work might not be the best fit for you.

  • Ideally, you’d receive location enquiries as frequently as is convenient to you, but the industry can be unpredictable. Some locations with sought-after features and convenient locations may receive several enquiries each week, while more niche spots might get only one enquiry per year.

At Silverstein Locations, we forward every enquiry to our location owners, regardless of its scale. Rest assured, you always have the final decision on whether to proceed.
