The unit base is easily accessed from the A1M and conveniently located just outside the M25 in Hertfordshire making it a popular choice for film productions.

The Great Northern Unit Base is 80m x 50m of hard standing surrounded by 12 feet brick walls. To access the base there are two gates, both requiring 24hour security whilst a film unit is on site and a third operative is advised to patrol the facilities vehicles.
The base is situated in a large flat field with good drainage that is suitable for marquees. There is additional parking for up to 200 crew cars in the adjacent grass overflow car park however, trackway is required from September to May.
